Yesterday I went down to the waterfront to take a look at the installation and to my surprise there was a guy helping himself to the bamboo poles. This was in broad daylight. When he saw me walking towards the installation, he then threw down the poles and walked away with his dog. Upon seeing this I made the decision to start taking down the project. By last night all the remaining solar lights were removed and the bamboo poles are slowing coming off. So, this being said, if you’re down at the lake you will not see the lights on at night and the area seems a bit thin without the bamboo poles. van-schie.
I was down to the installation today and see that people are still breaking lights and making a mess of the Ice Auger Project. Oh well, just part of a time based installation. van-schie.
Things are starting to grow legs a leave my installation site. I am losing solar lights and bamboo poles pretty well daily. Oh well, that is part of time based installations. I hope you enjoy the new pictures. van-schie.
The weather has been very mild for the last couple of days and it is making it difficult to walk around out on Lake Nipissing. The Ice Auger Project is still working. People seem to be taking some of the solar lights and breaking bamboo poles, but I guess that is going to happen regardless. Any way, go down and see the installation if you get a chance. van-schie.
PS. I’ll add some more images in the next couple of days.
The Auger project has now been up for a couple weeks and snow is drifting, the auger holes are filling in. It is really changing character. I’ve enclose a photo. enjoy. van-schie,
I’ve augered 700 plus holes and installed a lot of bamboo sticks with solar lights and day glo paint. The project is starting to take shape. If you have a chance you should come down and take a look tomorrow. It is also very interesting at night. van-schie.
Today I will auger holes for the bamboo poles. I will also be subdividing the larger area into ten smaller areas to create a series of pods. I will try and post video of the actual ice augering. van-schie.
